Raku Pottery

Our raku pottery is made by removing the pieces from the kiln at 1800 degrees F, smoldering in sawdust, and then cooling rapidly with water. Most of our decorative pieces are made in this way.  Raku pottery should be handled with care. The metallic lusters may fade over time and should not be placed in direct sunlight. Clean only with a soft cloth and water.  Raku pottery should not be used to hold food or liquids, as it is not vitrified and may leak.

Raku pottery wall plates measure between 13" and 22", and cost $100 - $250.  We can create custom plates that can include names and dates carved or painted on the piece.

Raku pottery vases range in size and shape from 4" to 15" tall, some with long necks some without.  They can also be carved or painted with various designs.  They are priced from $20 - $90 depending on size.

Raku pottery coasters and trivets are one of the few raku items that are functional.  The coasters can be used like any other coasters and should be cleaned using a damp cloth.  The trivets can be hung on the wall as a decoration or can be used to set hot dishes on, such as casseroles and baking dishes hot out of the oven.  The coasters are 4" square and cost $10 each or $48 for a set of 4 with a coaster holder.  The trivets are a framed 4" coaster measuring 7" square with the frame and cost $22.
